School of Theatrical Art is performing art wing of FACES founded with an objective of popularising theatre among students and youth and also with an aim of innovation, training and development in theatrical art.

Courses

1. Dip-in-Act: One Year Diploma in Acting

Objective: This diploma course provides theoretical and practical training in acting to start a career as an amateur or professional artist.
Eligibility: No age limit. Students studying in class 5 to 12 and persons of any age and educational qualification, willing to learn ‘acting’, can apply for this course.
Number of seats: 6
Session Starts from June-July.
Admission commences in April.

2. DTA: One Year Diploma in Theatrical Arts

Objective: This course provides training in acting, directing, script writing and costume designing. This diploma course focuses all the aspects of knowledge and expertise relevant to the round 1 (audition) and round 2 (workshop) phase of the NSD entrance examination.
Eligibility: Graduates aspiring for admission in National School of Drama (NSD) are eligible for this course.
Number of seats: 5
Session Starts from June-July.
Admission commences in April.
Study Material is provided by the school for both the courses.

Proper notification, application form and prospectus are made available on the website of the school on due time.

There is 60% scholarship in fees for the students sponsored by a school/college (recognised by Govt., affiliated to state or central board or a constituent unit of a university recognised by UGC)

Workshop:

  • Under the programme “Rachna”of FACES,   SOTA organises theatre workshops for schools students and aspiring artists in summer-vacation and winter vacation every year. Schools may opt for the special workshops to be orgnised in their premises for the students.
  • In the workshops, participants learn about theatre and acting by eminent theatre and TV personalities and take part in a play prodution.
  • The expenses of the production are borne by the participants.

Production:

  • Under the programme “Rachna”,  as a part of the training courses (Dip-in-Act and DTA), SOTA produces plays and short films, involving the trainees of the school.
  • The short films are available oneline for public view and some of them are exhibited on different cultural platforms.
